David Brin

Born in California in 1950, David Brin has earned numerous acclaim for writing ranging from fiction to non-fiction to novelettes to comics to social commentary. He's written role-playing games and academic papers. He is a scientist, an author, and a public speaker. He's been a visiting scholar for such diverse organizations as the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA, the Center for the Study of the Evolution of Life, and the NASA NSCORT for Exobiology.

Among his many awards and recognitions, Brin has Campbell Awards, multiple Hugo awards, Nebulas, Locus Awards, Obeler Freedom of Speech Award, and a McGannon Communication Policy Research Award.

Brin earned a bachelor's degree is astrophysics and a master's degree in optics from CalTech and a doctorate in space physics from the University of San Diego. He was also a postdoctoral fellow at the California Space Institute and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
