George Selden
A man with literary bent and the winner of a Fulbright Scholarship, George Selden's storytelling ability has won the hearts of children for decades. His Newbery Honor book, The Cricket in Times Square, launched a series of seven Cricket books.
Selden was born in Connecticut and lived most of his adult life in New York City where wrote a total of 15 books and two plays before he died in 1989.
