John Campbell Awards
Alongside the Nebula and the Hugo, the Campbell is one of the three major science fiction awards. It recognizes the top science fiction novel of the year. Unlike the Nebulas and Hugos, the Campbell winner is selected by committee. The committee gives a first, second, and third place award and sometimes a "special" award.
The Award is named after John Campbell, former editor of Astounding Science Fiction magazine (now known as Analog). Many in the science fiction field have dubbed him as the father of modern science fiction. The award was established by science fiction writers and critics Harry Harrison and Brian Aldiss.
