Locus Awards
Locus Magazine, a science fiction, fantasy and horror periodical, awards annual recognition to works published throughout the year. The awards were established in 1971 as a way of giving readers voices by which to influence the Hugo awards. Throughout the decades, the Locus Awards have grown into a distinguished award of its own right. It is also one of the few awards that recognizes publishers as well as writers.
The categories include novels, short stories, anthologies, collections, non-fiction, art book, publisher, magazine, and artist.
Awards are usually granted in July at Westercon, though the 2004 awards were made at Worldcon in September instead.
